A Photographic Tour of Santorini.

A photographic guide to Santorini

I normally try and avoid places that are meant to be mega tourist spots. I know they are normally amazing and attract so many people because of that reason but there is just something about them I find hard to deal with. Santorini blew my mind. I remember seeing a photo of it on my next door neighbours wall when I was 7 or 8 and asking them where it was and if it was a painting or a photo. It was the quintessential shot of the blue domes sitting cliff top over the sea. I didn’t know where Greece was then and never really thought I would ever visit it at that age. Almost 20 years later I found myself standing in the exact spot where that photo was taken. Nostalgia is a weird thing. Seeing that with my own eyes instantly transported me back. I remembered how long their carpet was, where the picture was hanging in their house and how they always used to give my sister and I boiled candy.

We just stayed at Santorini camping. It was cheap and clean. We did the standard thing and rented a quad bike and just started exploring the island. There was soooooooo many tourists! But it didn’t really seem to matter. You are constantly blown away by the landscape and architecture. It is this crazy world of perfectly planned architecture and color coordination covering the entire island. I am not sure whose idea it was but it was genius!

Santorini GreeceThis place just sat there on the track between the Fira and Oia in the middle of no where really, with nothing else around it except a few scattered tourists and the sea.
Santorini GreeceSo I would suggest staying away from Oia for sunset as appealing as it may seem. We could not even walk for extended periods of time.

Santorini GreeceThe red beach is another one of those must see kind of places despite the people again.

Santorini GreeceI love architecture and the colors and the shapes here were constantly blowing my mind!
